The terms that show up in the application and in this guide, in alphabetical order, nearly all of them pointing at the page that explains them properly.

Platform concepts

Account — The workspace: address book, events, domains and subscription. An agency can have several, and data never crosses between them. See How Eventleash works.

Alias — The last part of a landing page's address. It cannot change after publishing. See Creating a landing page.

Campaign — An email sent to the guests of an event. See Creating and sending a campaign.

Check-in — Recording arrivals on the night of the event. See Check-in at the door.

Companion — Somebody a guest brings with them. Declared when answering the invitation, counted at the door.

Contact — A person in the address book, independent of any event. See The address book.

Event — A date, a place and a list of guests. See Creating and running an event.

Group — A label applied to several contacts; a contact can be in several groups. See Searching, filtering and bulk editing.

Guest — A contact attached to an event, with everything that concerns that occasion. See Guests and their states.

Landing page — The event's public page, where people answer the invitation. See Creating a landing page.

List — A free-text label on a guest, meaningful only inside that event: "table 3", "press".

Message — The individual copy of a campaign sent to one person. It is what tracks delivery, opens and clicks.

Placeholder — A code in double braces, like {{firstName}}, substituted with the recipient's data. See Email templates.

Role — What a person can do inside an account: administrator, user or host. See Users and roles.

RSVP — The answer to an invitation. From the French, "please reply". See RSVP and confirmations.

Slot — A time band for entry. See Slots and time bands.

Template — The look of an email or a landing page, built once and reused. See Email templates.

The states

Archived — A concluded event, read-only, that does not count against the plan limit. See Duplicating, archiving and deleting.

Blocked — A contact you excluded from sends yourself. Different from unsubscribed.

Bounce — A message rejected by the recipient's server. See Sending statistics.

Confirmed — A guest who said they are coming.

No answer — A guest who has not replied yet. Not a no: it is the target of the reminder.

Past due — An account whose last invoice could not be charged. It keeps working while the bank retries.

Read only — An account whose subscription was cancelled: browsable for 90 days, not editable.

Unsubscribed — A contact who took themselves off your communications using the link in your emails. It applies to the whole account. See Privacy, consents and unsubscribes.

Technical terms

CNAME — A kind of DNS record that points one name at another. Used for the DKIM keys and for the landing pages domain.

DKIM — The cryptographic signature proving an email really was sent by who it says. In Eventleash you enable it by publishing three CNAME records. See The DNS records.

DMARC — The rule a domain uses to tell providers how to treat email that fails the checks. With Eventleash it works through DKIM, without touching SPF. See SPF and DMARC.

DNS — The internet's address book: it turns domain names into addresses. It is the panel where you publish the verification records.

Managed subdomain — A subdomain of ours, assigned to your account, that makes landing pages work with no setup. It does not send email. See The subdomain managed by Eventleash.

Primary domain — The domain campaigns go out from. Without one, the account does not send. See Choosing the primary domain.

Propagation — How long a DNS record takes to become visible everywhere: usually minutes, sometimes hours.

QR code — The code a guest gets in their confirmation email and that is scanned at the door.

SPF — A DNS record listing who may send for a domain. With Eventleash there is no need to change it.

TXT — The kind of DNS record you prove a domain is yours with. See Ownership.
